Who we are

GEWI GEWI GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1984 by Günther Stockhausen, who has a degree in banking and had, until then, held an executive position in a German privately owned bank. Right from the outset, GEWI specialised in acting as an expert partner in the field of grant and funding consultancy and procurement.
Initially, focus was on the financing of company capital spending projects through subsidies and loans. In 1987, GEWI, together with a number of partners, founded the European "EuroIncentive Group" network which enabled the company to expand its activities to EU and international grant and funding consultancy.

From 1995, GEWI focussed to an increasing extent on arranging funding and grants for innovations and also took on the project management of research networks. In 2000, Sonja Stockhausen, daughter of the founder and holder of a degree in economics, joined the firm. After working initially as a project manager, she became an executive member of the management team in 2006 with equal management rights. Since 2007, GEWI has also been supporting enterprises in the evaluation of technology projects, which meant an expansion in its field of activities to include innovations management.

Since its foundation, GEWI has been independent and family managed; all the company's shares are owned by family members.
